An Artistic Call to Action- You Were Made for This.

If I could pick one narrative voice for right now, it would be a voice who told you stories about great art, great inspiring people, and incredible experiences.

I want you to feel inspired. Empowered. Connected. I want you to look at your life right now and see everything you have to be grateful for, and allow that gratitude and a sense of deep inspiration to fill you up. I want to help remind you that you are powerful. You have choice. You are resourceful. Money is not the only resource. Food, Community, Movement, Consciousness. These are resources as well.

I recognize right now that people are living in fear of scarcity, and other people are actually living inside of scarcity, but guess what? It’s also a mindset. The faster you learn to control your mind, and find your way to stay present in this moment, the more enjoyable this time off will be. One thing I can guarantee is, while this time is shaking all of us up, and things will change- less things will change than you expect. Trust your earth. You’re standing on her.

My little sister sent me this amazing artistic call to action this morning from Andrew Simonet. It inspired me to both share it with you, and to speak my heart, my truth, and to make a plan over the next week to tell you a few stories of connection and powerful art happening in my life right now.

First, READ THIS. It’s Amazing.

Now, take a second and pull up your memo/notepad, writing app on your phone or jot down a couple of quick thoughts that came to mind while you were reading that post by Simonet. What inspired you? What words, or phrases resonated? Write it down and set it aside. We’ll come back to it later.

Third. I want you to make a list of all of the incredible people you know who could benefit from seeing Simonet’s words. Please text, email, FB, etc, this link to them. Because, this is a gigantic collaborative effort of consciousness, and we need your best people tapped in. Done? Or cool, back to you.

Look at the list you made. Flesh it out a little more. Poke and prod at the ideas that make you scared, or make you excited and pick those. Those are the ones with energy. Those are the places you need to move towards.

My list looks like this:

-a project to invite what is to come.

-a sense of hope

-a sense of connectiveness

-an impromptu artist residency, what is my project, what is my focus. Dance? I want to do a dance residency? Who am I? I am not a dancer. However I do dance when I feel intense, immense grief- and right now…. I feel such flooded with grief and I need it to move out of my body.

-“you don’t need to save this world. You need only to carry your gifts and skills into this present challenge.”

-“We challenge assumptions and we reframe the world”

I would love to hear your lists as well. You can comment here, or send me an email finn@finngravesart.com. <3

If you didn’t click on the Andrew Simonet link on his name, go ahead and do it now. He starts slow, but settle in and listen to him about art and art work, and being artists together. His points are good and I appreciated him so much today.

Now. Choose a course of action and make one step towards that course. :) You can do it. I believe in you.

I… am going to go film a silly video of me dancing. Talk about vulnerable. ;)
