Remember how this week I promised to give you updates on the incredible artists making strides towards connection, community and purpose, in the midst of a global pandemic? Making good on that promise today.
My buddy, Sam Smith, is an inventor, ecologist, hardware store worker and now a podcaster as well. He runs Disruptively Useful, has massive ADHD, and is concerned about how we all connect to one another, DIY projects and Open Source Information. You can find more information about his open source projects on his Patreon.
We started a podcast together last year in early December and true to our natures we recorded the first two, before getting caught up in the details of our lives. We hit each other up again this week, and spent a day figuring out how to use Discord to record remotely. (Discord is an app for your phone or ipad, mostly used for gamers, but right now, we're all repurposing everything in a global bid for connection.) We DID it, and we got things restarted for the next two episodes.
I know I have been writing long posts lately, but I feel as if the relevant information about this work, is held within the podcast links. Please, go listen to them. Feel free to hit us up for feedback. You can message me finn@finngravesart.com, and you can subscribe on Soundcloud, or to the RSS of my blog.
Here are the first two episodes:
1. Welcome to the Gentler Apocalypse.
Our original goal was to publish one a month, but yesterday Sam and I talked about trying to get one out a week with everything that's going on. We also talked about our overviews for the next couple ones. Episode 3 is all about learning to play the World Game, which is a thought process initialized by Buckminster Fuller.
Stay tuned for future episodes. :) And check out his work online.
